The gable wall was in a pretty bad state, it was only a matter of time before disaster struck
The wall was bulging badly, with many of the stones badly eroded. The lintel above the window was cracked and hanging out. The chimney stack had gone the other way and was leaning over the house at quite a jaunty angle.
Unfortunately the window had been exposed to the weather for years and the frame as well as the sashes had rotted.
We want to retain as much as possible of the original so we have painstakingly taken the window apart and repaired/ or replaced where we have had toNow it’s back to its former glory, much to our delight and to the relief of many in the village!
Brick by brick! Looks lovely (and strong) !
